The 35-year-old’s new feminine, tousled shoulder-length style has resulted in an almost unanimous thumbs-up from the fashion world since its unveiling back in november. The gentler style follows the Posh- quickly renamed ‘the Pob’ by hairdressers - and a striking Audrey Hepburn-esque pixie crop, which became one of the most copied cuts of the past year.
Lets have a look at some of her styles over the years. just for your entertainment……..

Hey Guys,

After i put my opinion of hair extensions being banned on here the Oxford Mail wanted to use my words for their regular column THE ISSUE.

I thought FAB get my opinion out there….but when it came out in the local paper on Thursday 25th Febuary I couldnt help myself but laugh.

With me not wanting the extensions to be banned and doing my research and knowing my knowledge I gave a good arguement, but when I looked at the opinion of Devon Bonner-Smith all I could do was giggle, to start off with there was nothing factual about her peice it was all based on her friend had…well im sorry you can not base an opinoin on that!! She also says ”Some of them grow out, but if they are glued in then you have to have them cut out.” I mean where the hell has she got that rubbish from, no hairdresser in the world would tell you that.

So I suggest people listen to friends opinion but always get a PROFESIONAL opinion!! If you need any help advise or tips please read my post called “Extermination of the extension ” and for any more info give us a tinkle.

Thanks

Hey guys,

Since the 19th Feb I’ve been following London’sFashion week, and not just for the clothing, I’ve been checking out how these designers are working with hairstyles.

On Friday 19th I saw Paul Costelloespring/summer range which may I ad looks fab!! he worked withvery slicked back ponytails (wet look) with strong fringes. Paul’sautumn/winter range was just as amazing however went a bit different with the hair (different being the operativeword) withbug hair full of backcombing with fantastic shapes. LOVE IT!!!!

Also on Friday Aminaka Wilmontin their spring/summer went all out there withloads of volume and crimping but left to go wild!! In the autumn/winter range it was all toned down withsome nice loose curls along with the loose clothing range, again love it!!

On Saturday 20th John Rocha showed off his range and again fab look, Loving the hair very 80’s messy perm, reminds me very much of that little red headed orphanAnnie!! Loved both ranges however im seeing some similarities from last years range.

With a good competition so far on Sunday 21st Jasper Conranbrings the most fab outfits on out, with the sping/summers amazing hair pulled tight back withthat wet look but then big ponytails and barrel curls, very J-lo in the late 90’s. However its not all sleek and smooth in the autumn/winter range is all loose curls into a messy updo.

Vivien Westwood designs also on Sunday hated the clothing but love the messy bun! Something simple but looks rather dramatic.

Love ya guys

Hey Guys,

It’s all going on in the hair extension world with alot of bad press. I am not going to agree with these so called reporters and hair scientists, as they are only focusing on the negative points to hair extensions, when they should be “researching ” into the topic from all aspects!!!

They can say its not good to wear extensions for a long period of time and that they increase the risk of going bald and receding earlier in life, but that I’m afraid is down to the client and the Qualified hairdresser’s advice!

Things to ask about when thinking about extensions.

Always ask to see a certificate to prove the hairdresser is qualified (You have every right to!!).

To get a good result make sure the hair is real as you can style as you would your own hair.

Cost - if you want your extensions to look good then don’t go to a salon just because there cheep!! You may regret this in the future.

Take a list of questions and concerns with you to your consultation and make sure you are 100% happy with all the answers given. If you are not 100% then don’t go ahead!!

Things the hairdresser should inform you about…

You can only go double your natural hair length, as this can cause too much tension on your natural hair, which may result in tension alopecia! If the stylist agrees to go longer walk away!

The hair should be attached 1.5cm away from the scalp at all times (you should see the stylist using some sort of a guide for this.) If no guide is used the can be to close and again cause tension alopecia and discomfort. Ask about this in your consultation.

The hairs natural cycle Anagen Catagen and Telogen (ACT) goes on over 3-4 months. Therefore when the hair naturally falls out you would normally be brushing them out daily, however some of the strands that are at the end of the cycle are now incorporated into the extensions, so when they are taken out it appears that the extension has done this, but it has not this is natural!!

Taking regular breaks in-between changing extensions. You should rotate your extensions every 3 months (because of the hairs cycle). Therefore I would recommend getting a good cut and colour if needed while the extensions are out, this does take some time though. It’s worth doing over a couple of days and have a break from the extensions for a couple of weeks to let your hair recover.

Always use the recommended shampoo and conditioner to help get the best out of your extensions. If you choose not to do this the hair will not be covered under guarantee.

Always go back to the same person/salon for your extensions as they can monitor the condition of your hair regularly, the stylist should tell you when is a good time to have a break from the extensions.

Hair extensions are not just used on people that want length, they are used for fashion colours (especially if you change your colour regularly), People with thin/fine hair that want fullness and even people that have gone through chemotherapy and are trying to aim for a look!!

For a consultation or more information give us a call or email.

Thanks guys

Hey guys,

Check out the new (or should I say old in some cases!!) hot & not so hot hairstyles for 2010.
Its back to those messy, loose, easy, bed head styles!!! GOOD TIMES!!! As many of you may know this is my kind of look!

I can’t believe the mullet is back! However not the frumpy 70’s version. The new mullet involves lots of long and short layers. Fab for people with a heart shaped face such as Freya Beha Erichsen (model).

Not only is the mullet back but so is the “shag”. It’s been on its way back for a while on and off but with Lilly Allen taking it on everyone wants it!! Great for people with a round face and lots of hair. The layers help to frame the face and define areas such as cheekbones and softening the eyes, all those key features; and it gets better there’s very little styling involved! GO LILLY!!

It was big in 2009 but it will be bigger in 2010, it’s the undercut and it’s still going strong. To get the most out of this style its best to go asymmetric so you can change partings , colour and vary the height. Take a look at Rhianna’s cut as she does all of these!

I have noticed that our most requested cut, at the moment, is the shattered bob (or as many of you may know, the Victoria Beckham cut). Many of our clients say to me “I want your cut!” I love this style it suits any face shape and it is easy to do with little effort for straight or curly hair. It is really great if your going from long to short, as it’s a fab introduction to short hair without being too scary!! Or short to long as you can still get a good shape whilst it is going through that awkward “growing out” stage! I’ve personally gone for this cut when going short or long and I love it!! I may not like all of Vikki’s fashion but I’m behind you all the way on this one chick!!

The new haircut in demand by the rich and famous is The Hollywood haircut, which was relaunched by the lovely Cheryl Cole! This works really well with thick hair, with lots of layers as it helps to create some height and body. If you have fine hair or not a lot of time this style is NOT for you. Check out Blake Lively as she carries off this look really well!!! Even though Mrs Cole doesn’t have this style anymore and has gone down the long layered bob path (also rocked by Anne Hatheway and Gwyneth Paltrow)!

Now I’ve heard there’s a new version of the Pixie cut and guess what it’s exactly the same….. just a little longer and called “The Fixie”!! How imaginative!! Anyone can carry this off its fab!! If you have fine hair and its lacking in volume this is great for creating thicker looking hair. Since star Carey Mulligan (from “An Education” fame) has done it, it’s the new in style!!

I don’t know about you guys but if anyone else saw the Argos advert on tele just before crimbo you will know just what I mean!! I’m not against strong striking cuts, but I am against the ones that look like your mum has put a bowl on your head and cut round it!! If you haven’t guessed already I’m not feeling the new “Super Bowl” haircut (the name speaks for itself!) and “The Arc” haircut. Sorry to Agnes Deyn, Rayna Mordanova and the rest of you but the only person that can carry of this cut in my opinion is Beth Ditto!!

Love you Beth!!

Bye Guys

Here are the top 5 winter hair care tips to keep your hair well-behaved for those winter months.

Condition well

One of the main problems with winter is that it can strip the hair of moisture. It’s therefore vital to use hair care products which will replenish that moisture and a good conditioner is the best place to start. We stock a full range of moisture based shampoo’ and conditioner’ for all hair types. Along with using the right type of moisturizing conditioner for your hair, treat your hair with an intensive conditioning treatment twice a week, we’ve got some fantastic Treatments in our new Bumble & Bumble range which will make your feel and look fantastic. For best results, lather on the conditioner and wrap your hair in a towel for ten minutes - this creates a humid environment, allowing the conditioner to penetrate the hair properly.

Rinse with cold water

Rinsing with cold water after washing out hair care products is a good way to help lock in the moisture from your conditioner. It also gives added shine to the hair.

Don’t go outside with wet hair

Going outside with wet hair in winter can lead to the hair freezing and possibly breaking, so try to make sure your hair is dry and protected before you leave the house. If you’re going out in the cold weather, you also need to be wary of hats. If you want to wear a hat, make sure it fits properly and clean your hats regularly. Wearing a tight hat can lead to limp, greasy hair due to overworked sebaceous glands.

Avoid heating the hair

Any extreme temperature can lead to hair damage, so icy cold weather and central heating in winter is a troublesome combination for hair care, robbing moisture and increasing static. Try not to overuse any hot items on the hair in winter. Blow dryers and curling tongs, for example, can dry out the hair. Limit use of your hairdryer and, when you do use it, use a cool setting. This will take longer but it will be far less likely to contribute to the winter damage of your hair.

Don’t shampoo too often

Winter weather and central heating will dry your hair meaning you need to shampoo less often at this time of year. Try to leave longer between washes - at least a day - and the natural oils will help prevent the hair drying out. When you do wash, use moisturising hair care products to help reduce dryness.

With these Five simple hair care tips you’ll have fab hair all year round!!

signing out

Anyone who was born with naturally curly hair knows that it can be both a blessing and a curse. Because it essentially grows in a zigzag formation, it takes longer to attain a certain length than it would if it were straight. It is also prone to dryness, and on humid days it seems like there’s nothing you can do to keep it under control! But on the plus side, it’s a look that is highly sought-after and can be absolutely stunning if you know how to style it properly.

First of all, keep in mind that curly hair almost always looks best when it is long, as the length allows for the curls to be properly weighed down. All long hair is beautiful, but long curly hair is nothing short of captivating! The best styles are those cut with layers, because the layers allow your hair to sit correctly and avoid the dreaded ‘pyramid head’.

Secondly, don’t shampoo it every day or you’ll risk drying it out further. Curly hair is usually more brittle than straight or wavy hair, so keeping the natural oils in place is a must. When you do shampoo, use products designed for your hair type, plus a good quality conditioner. We stock several shampoo, conditioners and styling products so pop in and pick my brains.

Every now and then you’ll get the urge to straighten your hair. That’s okay, provided that you’re not doing it every day; if you are then it’s time that you embraced the beauty of your curls.
