What’s Hot and What’s Not in 2010…..

Hey guys,

Check out the new (or should I say old in some cases!!) hot & not so hot hairstyles for 2010.
Its back to those messy, loose, easy, bed head styles!!! GOOD TIMES!!! As many of you may know this is my kind of look!

I can’t believe the mullet is back! However not the frumpy 70’s version. The new mullet involves lots of long and short layers. Fab for people with a heart shaped face such as Freya Beha Erichsen (model).

Not only is the mullet back but so is the “shag”. It’s been on its way back for a while on and off but with Lilly Allen taking it on everyone wants it!! Great for people with a round face and lots of hair. The layers help to frame the face and define areas such as cheekbones and softening the eyes, all those key features; and it gets better there’s very little styling involved! GO LILLY!!

It was big in 2009 but it will be bigger in 2010, it’s the undercut and it’s still going strong.  To get the most out of this style its best to go asymmetric so you can change partings , colour and vary the height. Take a look at Rhianna’s cut as she  does all of these!

I have noticed that our most requested cut, at the moment, is the shattered bob (or as many of you may know, the Victoria Beckham cut). Many of our clients say to me “I want your cut!” I love this style it suits any face shape and it is easy to do with little effort for straight or curly hair. It is really great if your going from long to short, as it’s a fab introduction to short hair without being too scary!! Or short to long as you can still get a good shape whilst it is going through that awkward “growing out” stage! I’ve personally gone for this cut when going short or long and I love it!! I may not like all of Vikki’s fashion but I’m behind you all the way on this one chick!!

The new haircut in demand by the rich and famous is The Hollywood haircut, which was relaunched by the lovely Cheryl Cole! This works really well with thick hair, with lots of layers as it helps to create some height and body. If you have fine hair or not a lot of time this style is NOT for you. Check out Blake Lively as she carries off this look really well!!!  Even though Mrs Cole doesn’t have this style anymore and has gone down the long layered bob path (also rocked by Anne Hatheway and Gwyneth Paltrow)!

Now I’ve heard there’s a new version of the Pixie cut and guess what it’s exactly the same….. just a little longer and called “The Fixie”!! How imaginative!! Anyone can carry this off its fab!! If you have fine hair and its lacking in volume this is great for creating thicker looking hair. Since star Carey Mulligan (from “An Education” fame) has done it,  it’s the new in style!!

I don’t know about you guys but if anyone else saw the Argos advert on tele just before crimbo you will know just what I mean!! I’m not against strong striking cuts, but I am against the ones that look like your mum has put a bowl on your head and cut round it!!  If you haven’t guessed already I’m not feeling the new “Super Bowl” haircut (the name speaks for itself!) and “The Arc” haircut. Sorry to Agnes Deyn, Rayna  Mordanova and the rest of you but the only person that can carry of this cut in my opinion is Beth Ditto!!

Love you Beth!!

Bye Guys

Leila Leila Bum Feeler :) x x
